About the Mission:
The family of Paul F. Cooney has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his funeral services. Paul, 88, a longtime Menands resident, died Monday, January 22, 2024 after a long illness.
Born in Albany, Paul was a 1953 graduate of Christian Brothers Academy in Albany and later graduated from Union College. He entered active duty in the US Army on 8 February 1957 and was trained as a Field Radio Repairman (MOS 296.68). He also served as Infantry School instructor assigned to Company "B", Infantry School Detachment at Fort Benning, Georgia. He served honorably until his discharge at the rank of Private First Class on 6 February 1959.
A NYS Licensed Professional Engineer and Surveyor, Paul began his civil service career in 1955 with the former NYS Department of Public Works, serving as a project engineer on several major Capital Region highways, including the construction of interstates 787 and 890. He was also an adjunct instructor for several years at HVCC, teaching courses in surveying, highway design and engineering.

Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
Staging at the church with a flag line for the arrival of family and guests. This portion of the mission includes only the church service. There will be no escort. Interment will take place at a later date at the family's convenience.
