About the Mission:

The family of Michael S. Maloney has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Michael, 79, passed suddenly on August 6, 2023.

Michael spent his childhood in Averill Park, NY and graduated from Averill Park High School. He enlisted in the US Army on 22 March 1965 and was trained as Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic (MOS63B2P). He served a total of 2 years on active duty, including a tour of duty in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne, 2nd Battalion, 327 Infantry Division. Michael received the Army’s Commendation for meritorious service in Vietnam as a squad leader, while on search and destroy operations in the Trungh Lung Valley. He was honorably discharged on 21 March 1967 at the rank of Specialist 4th Class, and for his service, was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Parachutist Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and 1 Overseas Service Bar.

After his military service, Michael worked for the Department of Defense for 30 years. After retirement, Michael excelled at all handyman work, electrician, carpentry, and mechanic. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, Yankee & Giants fan, and loved his dogs. He was a member of the Rotterdam Eagles, American Legion, and a communicant of Our Lady Queen Peace Church.

Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the dignified transfer. Escort to Saratoga National Cemetery to follow.
