About the Mission:
The family of Michael R. "Mickey" Ferraro has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Michael, 87, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2024 at Glendale Home with his family at his side.
Born in Schenectady, Mickey was a 1955 graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and went on to continue his education at Schenectady County Community College. He proudly defended our country in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1962, including time aboard the USS Samuel B. Roberts (DD-823), a Gearing-class destroyer, and was honorable discharged at the rank of Seaman.
In 1961, Mickey started his dedicated career for the Schenectady Police Department. He retired in 1985 as an Investigator, and was the former President of the Schenectady Police Benevolent Association (PBA). Throughout his life, Mickey enjoyed staying fit, powerlifting, football, boxing and trips to the casino. Above all he cherished the time he was able to spend with his family.
