About the Mission:

The family of Leroy James Johnson, Jr. has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services.  Leroy, 75, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2023, with his loved ones by his side.

Born in Troy, NY, Leroy was a 1966 graduate of Troy High School.  He enlisted in the United States Navy Reserve while in high school, serving 1 year and 11 months.  After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force on 18 July 1966 during the Vietnam War, and was trained as an Electric Power Product Specialist (AFSC 54340).  He served honorably until his discharge at the rank of Sergeant (E-4) on 20 February 1970.  For his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Small Arms Expert Ribbon.

After his military service, Leroy joined the Troy Police Department where he served until his retirement after 35 years.  He later relocated to Crossville, Tennessee.  Leroy was a cousin of PGRNY R5 Ride Captain Bill Ryan.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

Interment with military honors scheduled for 10:00 am.  Please stage quietly and in accordance with current guidelines.
