About the Mission:
The family of Lavern S. "Vern" James, Jr. has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. Vern, 62, went to be with the Lord on November 6, 2024 following a courageous battle of cancer.
Born on January 27, 1962 in Rutland, VT., Vern enlisted in the Army National Guard on 1 April 1980. He served for 11 years and 9 months as a Medic until his honorable discharge at the rank of Sergeant on 7 January 1992. For his service, he was awarded the NYS Military Commendation Medal.
Vern was a family man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, kayaking, cooking, working on projects and spending time with loved ones and friends.

Special Information:
Members will stand a flag line for the arrival of family and friends, with military honors being conducted at the funeral home. His ashes are going home on the mantle.
Personal note from SRC "Big Dan" Nolin; Vern is a great friend of mine. I was with him hours before, and when he passed I was on audio speaker phone when he took his last breath. I miss him dearly.
