About the Mission:
The family of Joseph A. Guiffre, Sr. has requested that Patriot Guard Riders participate in his military honors funeral services. Joseph, 99, passed on Thursday, 25 August, 2022.
Born in Amsterdam, NY, Joseph was inducted into the US Army on on 2 January 1943 in Albany, NY. Upon completion of training, he was transferred overseas on 1 June 1943 and was assigned to the 347th Engineering Regiment. The Regiment deployed to England in February 1944, and entered combat in France on 29 June 1944 and participated in operations in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns of World War II, where Joseph served as a Combat Engineer. He returned home frm overseas on on 15 December 1945 and was honorably discharged on 22 December 1945 at the rank of private First Class. For his service, Joseph was awarded three Battle Stars as well as the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and Lapel Button. Joseph felt serving his country was one of the greatest honors of his life.
He was a quillian at Mohawk Mills and later was employed by the Montgomery County Highway Department in Fonda as a Foreman for Building and Grounds, retiring in 1986. He was a Communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Tribes Hill, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a member of the Tribes Hill Fire Department, and a member of the Glen-Mohawk and Iroquois Seniors.

Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
Staging at the funeral home with a flag line during visitation hour from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm. There will be a funeral service conducted between 12:00 and 12:45 pm, followed by dignified transfer and escort to Pine Grove Cemetery, Mohawk Street, Tribes Hill, NY for interment with military honors.
