About the Mission:
The family of John W. (Jack) O'Rourke has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Jack, 99, passed on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
Born in Cohoes, NY, Jack was educated at St. Bernard’s Grammar School in Cohoes and LaSalle Institute in Troy. In July of 1941, both Jack and his father Fred enlisted in the United States Navy. Jack served aboard the USS Roamer (AF-19), a Bridge-class cargo ship, and the USS Mount Vernon (LSD-39), an Anchorage-class dock landing ship. Fred entered the Seabees, and both served in the South Pacific. Jack was honorably discharged at the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class and a rating of Boatswains Mate 1st Class (E-6).
After WW II, Jack held several positions in the residential and commercial flooring industry. He retired in 1990 as a regional director for the Kentile Corporation. Post retirement he worked at the Albany County Department of Aging.

Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
Staging at the church with a flag line for the arrival of the funeral cortege. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00 am, followed by escort to St. Agnes Cemetery, 48 Cemetery Ave., Menands, NY, for interment with military honors.
