About the Mission:

The family of John J. Ferrara II has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. John, 40, passed on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

John grew up in Fonda, NY, and was a graduate of Fonda-Fultonville High School. At the age of 17, John enlisted in the US Air Force, transferring to the Army National Guard at the age of 21. John proudly made a career of his military service, actively working as a Supply NCO with several units throughout New York State. He served two tours in Afghanistan as part of the 2nd Battalion 108th Infantry Regiment in 2008 and in 2012. John was medically discharged and honorably retired from duty on July 13, 2022. At the time of his death, John was pursuing a college degree in Canine Training and Management.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line during visitation hours, 09:00 - 11:00 am. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am, with dignified transfer and escort to Saratoga National Cemetery anticipated at 11:45 am.
