About the Mission:

He graduated in 1957 and went on to Siena College on an ROTC scholarship, graduating in 1961. Following his graduation, he served in the U.S. Army for 18 months, achieving the rank of Second Lieutenant. In October 1962, his Fort Devens, Mass. unit stood ready to deploy to the Cuban Missile Crisis. He remained active in the Army until February 1963 and ultimately received an honorable discharge.
