About the Mission:
The family of James A. Sasko has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. James age 84, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at home with his loving family by his side.
Born on March 20, 1940, in Troy, NY, James attended Heatly High School in Green Island, NY. He enlisted in the US Air Force on 12 February 1958 and was trained as a Cryogenic Fluids Production Specialist (AFSC 54450Z). He served a total of 3 years and 11 months on active duty, including 1 year and 3 months assigned to the 5040th Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Group at Elmendorf AFB in Alaska. He was honorably discharged on 12 January 1962 at the rank of Airman 2nd Class (E-3), and for his service was awarded the USAF Good Conduct Medal.
After his military service, James worked various positions until joining GF Wertime Building Supply in Cohoes, NY where he worked as the store manager until his retirement. James was never satisfied with sitting still, so he went back to work part time during his “retirement” years with his son's family business, Teakwood Builders.
