About the Mission:

The family of Dr. Gaylord Joseph "Jim" James, Jr., A.B., DDS, has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Dr. James died on September 12, 2024.

Born April 22. 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio, Jim graduated from Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio in 1948 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Williams College in 1952 and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Western Reserve University, School of Dentistry (now Case-Western Reserve, School of Dental Medicine) in 1956.

He received a commission and entered the US Navy as a Lieutenant Junior Grade on 30 October 1956. He served at the Naval Dental Clinic in Norfolk, Virginia and as the dental officer aboard the USS Truckee (AO 147), a Neosho-class fleet oiler. He served on active duty until his honorable discharge on 31 October 1958 at the rank of Lieutenant (O-3). Subsequent to his discharge from the Navy, he served as a clinical associate in the Department of Dental Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic for one year, and then went into private practice.

Special Information:

Staging at the church with a flag line for the arrival of family and guests. There will be a one hour Visitation period from 10:00 - 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am, followed by escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for interment with military honors.
