About the Mission:

The family of Fred J. Mastrianni has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Fred, 92, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday July 8, 2023.

Fred was born in West Albany, NY. He graduated from Albany High School in 1949 before being drafted into the US Army, where he served in the Korean War from 1952-1953. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal.

Upon his return home, he attended the University of Rochester’s School of Radiography, graduating in 1955. Fred worked as an x-ray technician at the VA Hospital for four years before pursuing his lifelong career at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he served as the Assistant Director of Radiation and Nuclear Safety from 1960-1994.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for a dignified transfer. Escort to Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Dr., Albany, NY 12211, to follow, where a 10:00 am Funeral Mass will be conducted. Upon conclusion, members will provide an escort to Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, 1389 Central Ave., Albany, NY, 12211, for interment with military honors.
