About the Mission:

The family of Francis J. "Dicey" Capone has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Francis, 94, of Ballston Spa, NY passed away peacefully at home on July 13, 2024.

Born in Saratoga Springs, NY, Francis left high school to serve in the Navy during the Korean War.  He enlisted on 3 January 1951 and served as a Gunners Mate Seaman until his honorable discharge on 5 November 1954.  During his time, he served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Midway (CV-41).  For his service, he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and a Navy Occupation Service Medal.

After the service, Francis was a Union member of Local 157, and he had worked for the D&H Railroad and Saratoga Beverage Bottling. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church and a Plank member of the ITAM. He was also a lifetime member of the Ballston Spa VFW.

Special Information:

We will stage for the arrival of family and friends after calling hours at the funeral home. After a dignified transfer, we will stand a flag line until mass begins, then stand down until the conclusion. Escort to Saratoga National Cemetery will follow for a 2:30 pm service.
