About the Mission:

The family of Edwin G. Godfrey has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Edwin, 92, passed away on January 23, 2024.

Born in Albany, NY, Edwin was a student of St. John’s Academy in Rensselaer. He entered the US Air Force on 8 September 1950 and served a total of 3 years and 3 months on active duty during the Korean War, including 11 months stationed in Seoul, South Korea. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Airman 1st Class on 11 December 1953, and for his service, was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars and a United Nations Service Medal.

After his military service, Edwin worked for 35 years as a highly respected Senior Mechanic for Winthrop/Sterling Drug in Rensselaer NY.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

Staging at the church with a flag line for the dignified transfer. Escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for 2:30 pm interment to follow.
