About the Mission:

The family of Edward C Charbonneau has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Edward, 98, of Saratoga Springs, NY, quietly passed away on July 26, 2023.

Ed was born in Cohoes, NY, and in 1940, enrolled in, and was honorably discharged from, the Civilian Conservation Corps, Camp S-93, Middleburg, NY. On October 26, 1942, at age of 17, he proudly enlisted in the U.S. Navy after the attack on Pearl Harbor.  He served for 3 years and two months, until his honorable discharge at the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class, with a rating of Boatswains Mate 2.  For his service, Ed was awarded the American Theater Medal and WW II Victory Medal.

After his military service, Ed began several businesses - his first being to rebuild a REO truck for hire. He later built their first home using lumber and nails from a torn down building. Ed was a self-made man who never found an obstacle he could not climb, nor a goal he failed to reach.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

Stage flag line for arrival of family and friends for church service at 10:00am. After service and dignified transfer, we will escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for a 11:30 service.
