About the Mission:

The family of Duane B Cartier has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services.  Duane, 73 years old, passed away unexpectedly at Glens Falls Hospital on Thursday, August 31, 2023.

Duane graduated from Fort Ann Central School in 1969.  He later obtained his associate degree in criminal justice from Adirondack Community College, and began his career as a New York State Corrections Officer on October 15, 1970.  He entered the US Army on 16 December 1970 and was trained as a Light Weapons Infantryman (MOS 11B10).  He served 1 year 11 months on active duty, including 1 year and 6 months in Regensburg, Germany.  Duane was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist 4th Class upon completion of his inactive reserve duty on 15 December 1976, and for his service, was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Marksman Badge - M16.

Duane retired from Great Meadow Correctional Facility on April 25, 2001, after 31 years of service.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

We will stage during calling hours, so please be quiet as possible and form a flag line in usual place out front. We will stand for dignified transfer and then escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for a 1pm service.
