US Army
Cold War Era Veteran
Albany Police Officer (Ret.)

Rensselaer, NY - 12/13/2023

Region 4, Region 5

About the Mission:

The family of David J. Aloisi has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services.

David was born and grew up in the city of Albany, NY,  attending Vincentian Institute and Cardinal McCloskey schools.  He joined the US Army on 23 October 1961, and was trained as an Atomic Demolitions Munitions Specialist (MOS 125.10).  He was assigned to the Sixth Army, Company "A", 4th Engineering Battalion, Fort Lewis, Washington, and also completed a 13 month tour of duty in post-war South Korea.  He was honorably discharged on 22 October 1964 at the rank of Private First Class, and later served in the Coast Guard Reserves between 1978 - 1980.

After his stint in the Army, he did various jobs including installing aluminum siding with his Uncle Ted before joining the Albany Police Department in 1971. Early on in his law enforcement career, he wore a cowboy hat while walking the beat in Arbor Hill, thus earning the nickname, "The Cowboy".  He was well-liked in the community. In 1980, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, and was later awarded a Combat Cross for actions performed in the line of duty. In 2004, he retired from the APD. He was a lifelong avid outdoors-man and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He worked hard all of his life and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

David is the father of PGR member Liz Aloisi, and was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 27 years, Catherine Mary Davis, who will be interred with him on Wednesday.
