About the Mission:
The family of David E. McDonald has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. David, 75 passed peacefully surrounded by his family on October 24th, 2022.
Born in Schenectady, David was a 1965 graduate of Draper High School. After high school, David proudly served in the United States Army.
David was a proud American and Patriot. He was a member of the American Legion Post #234 and served as the commander for 7 years. In addition, he served as President of the Burnt Hills Softball club where he enjoyed coaching his daughters and nieces to several victories. He also found time to enjoy the great outdoors with family and dear friends. He loved hunting, fishing and skeet shooting.
Over the years, David also found time to serve as the New York State Skeet Shooting Association (NYSSA) president. He was the Skeet Shooting Chairmen of the Watervliet Rod and Gun Club. He was a very accomplished shooter and is in the New York State Skeet Shooting Hall of Fame. For over 25 years, David worked for Sheet Metal Workers #83 as a superintendent, through MCD Mechanical.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
Members will stage at the funeral home near the end of visitation hours of 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 pm, followed by an escort to Sweetman Cemetery, Ballston Spa, NY for interment with military honors.
