About the Mission: | The family of David E. Kirtley has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. David, 71, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 16, 2022. Born in Albany, NY, David entered the US Army on 16 January 1970. He was assigned to "A" Battery, 5th Battalion, 42nd Artillery with an MOS of 13A10. He completed a 14 month tour of duty at an artillery firebase in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged on 21 August 1971 at the rank of Specialist 4th Class (E-4). For his service, David was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, the NYS Conspicuous Service Cross and Marksman Badge Rifle (M-16). David is a hero in our hearts for fighting for our country during the Vietnam War alongside his twin brother Stephen Kirtley who passed in 2017. David retired from the City of Albany after more than a 15-year tenure. Throughout life, David’s favorite things were fishing, golf & NASCAR racing. Very rare to see him miss a Sunday NASCAR Race. David was also a lifetime member of the Polish American Club in Albany and supported annual fundraising dedicated to St. Jude’s children’s hospital. Portions of the above narrative are contained in David's obituary, available for viewing online by clicking here |
