About the Mission:

The family of Daniel R. Scripter has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services.  Daniel, 68, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

Born in Schenectady, New York, Daniel enlisted in the US Air Force on 1 August 1973.  He served for almost 5 years and 6 months as a Vehicle Operator and Dispatcher (AFSC 60350), including time stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska. He was honorably discharged on 31 August 1978 at the rank of Sergeant (E-4), and for his service, was awarded the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Longevity Service Award.

After his military service, Dan worked as a butcher running his own shop, The Corner Post in Middle Grove, for several years and continuing as a meat cutter throughout his life. He later drove school bus for the Saratoga Springs City School District. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Dan served as president of the Kayderosseras Fish and Game Club, leader of the Lucky Dog Hunting Club, member of the Single Action Shooting Society, and trail boss of the Circle K Regulators. When he wasn’t out shooting at the range, Dan enjoyed taking a long ride on his Harley, including many trips to Sturgis.

We will stage a flag line for arrival of the family and will stand for the military honors funeral. Dan was a good friend of our Wreaths Across America Fundraiser extraordinaire Cyndi Owen.
