About the Mission:

Patriot Guard Riders has been requested by the family of Daniel J. Eckles to participate in his military honors funeral services. Daniel, 73, passed away peacefully on May 28th, 2023.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Daniel grew up in Columbus, OH.  In 1969, he entered the US Army, where he served as a Light Weapons Infantryman (MOS 11B40).  He was assigned to Company D, 1st Battalion, 52nd Infantry, 23rd Infantry Division, Chu Lai, South Vietnam, where he completed a 7 month tour of duty.  He was released from active duty on 27 March 1971, and honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant on 1 April 1975.  For his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and a Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device.

After his military service, Daniel embarked on a new chapter as the founder of Eckles Construction, building custom homes in Columbus, OH.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

We will stage and form our flag line for the arrival of family and friends . Then at about 10:30, a dignified transfer will be conducted, followed by escort to church, and then to Saratoga National Cemetery.

Stage flag line for dignified transfer, then church service at 11:00am. Stand down during service 45-60 minutes. Reform flag line for dignified transfer and escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for a 1:30 pm service.
