About the Mission:

The family of CW2 Gerald R. Fenner, Sr. has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Gerald, 78, originally of East Herkimer passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023, at his daughter's home in Fultonville surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Herkimer, Gerald attended local schools graduating from Herkimer High School, class of 1963. He went on to enlist in the United States Army in 1964 and retired from active duty as a Chief Warrant Officer 2 (W-2), in 1984. His service included a tour of duty in Da Nang, Vietnam, several tours in Germany and several stateside. For his service to our Nation, he received the following awards: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars, Overseas Service Ribbon w/ "2" device, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 device and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm.

Following his career in the Army he returned to New York and worked as a Service Manager at Nichols in Gloversville, then as a Contractor Manager for the Scotia Commissary, DECA. During this time, he was an active member of the Glen Volunteer Fire Department and participated in the local community and Glen reformed Church wherever he could. He fully retired in 2004 spending several years in his RV seeing the country from the road. Later Gerald relocated to New Mexico where he lived for 10 years before returning to be closer to his family.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line during the visitation hour, 3:00 - 4:00 pm. A funeral service, including military honors will begin at 4:00 pm. Interment will take place at a later date.
