About the Mission:

The family of Chief Master Sergeant Charles D. Eells, US Air Force - Retired, has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Sergeant Eells, 87, passed on Friday, December 9, 2022 of Agent Orange-related illness.

Born in Norwich, CT, Charles joined the US Air Force in 1953 during the Korean War, and went on to serve in the Vietnam War. He made a career out of military service, attaining the rank of Chief Master Sergeant (E-9). Chuck was a special agent in the United States Air Force Office of Special Investigations for many years, retiring after 31 years of service on September 30, 1984. For his service, he was awarded a Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal w/ 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal w/6 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon w/6 Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal w/Device, Vietnam Service Medal w/4 Bronze Service Stars, Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award w/2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/Palm Device, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device and an Occupational Medal.

Chuck was named the Lead Federal Representative for Security at the 1980 Winter Olympics at Lake Placid. He was a proud member of the Rensselaer County Draft Animal Association and had a deep love for farming. He was a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

Staging at the church with a flag line during visitation hours 09:00 - 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00, then escort to Memory Gardens Cemetery, 983 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Albany, NY 12205 for interment with military honors.

Note:  During the Winter months, flag lines may take place indoors where masks may still be required.  Please ensure that you have a mask with you should the need arise, and observe safe social distancing as much as possible.
