About the Mission:

The family of Chester T. Cottrell has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services.  Chester “Chet” Cottrell, 72, passed away after a brief illness on December 17, 2023.

Born in Troy, NY, Chet was a 1969 graduate of Troy High School.  He was inducted into the US Army on 6 March 1970 and trained as a Field Artilleryman (MOS13A10).  He completed a tour of duty in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist 4th Class (E-4).  For his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, and 1 Overseas Service Bar.

 When not working, he spent time playing golf, going to baseball games and fishing.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

We will stand for the second half of the calling hours, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm, one hour, then a little break. Following the dignified transfer, members will escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for a 1:30 pm service.  If it's cold out feel free to stand inside.
