About the Mission:

Patriot Guard Riders has been requested by the family of Charles R. Dunham to participate in his military honors funeral services.  Charles, 100, passed away on May 25, 2023.

Born in Muscatine, Iowa, Chuck enlisted in the Navy at the onset of WWII, on 29 June 1943.  He served as a Shipfitter aboard the USS Artisan (ABSD-1), a floating drydock where he worked as a welder repairing battle ships in the South Pacific. He enjoyed the work and camaraderie; and was proud to serve the country. He was honorably discharged on 7 March 1946 at the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class, and for his servive, was awarded a WWII Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the American Theatre Medal.

After the war, Charles rode a Harley Davidson motorcycle out of the factory in Wisconsin. He spent the next two decades working in a print shop in Moline, IL.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

We will stage our flag line for the arrival of family and friends.  After the dignified transfer, members will escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for a 12:30 pm interment service.
