About the Mission:

The family of Charles R. "Chuck" Alger has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Chuck, 80, died suddenly Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at his residence.

Born and raised in Troy, Chuck was a graduate of Troy High School and resided in East Greenbush since 1976. He served in the United States Marine Corps, including a tour of duty in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged on 20 August, 1967.

Chuck was a retired computer operator for the NYS Division of State Police, a volunteer at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Wednesday Squad, and a member of the East Greenbush American Legion, Melvin Roads Post 1231. He was also a life member of the East Greenbush Volunteer Fire Department #3 North Station, a Mason for 40 years and an Ambassador at Albany International Airport.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: NYS Guidelines of 2 March 2022, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

Note that there is a new staging protocol for Saratoga National Cemetery.  PGR members will stage by parking ONLY on the right side of the roadway near Section 21.  If that area is full, the overflow parking area will be on the right side of the roadway near Interment Shelter 1.  Please park as closely together as possible.  As always, you are asked to stage quietly and respectfully.  Interment services for this mission will be conducted in Interment Shelter 1.    Please click here to view a map of the designated area
