About the Mission:

The family of Carlo J. Figliomeni has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Carlo, 74, passed on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Suncoast Hospice, Palm Harbor, Florida.

Born in Reggio Calabria, Italy, Carlo was a graduate of Cardinal McCloskey Memorial High School of Albany, NY. At the age of 18, on 5 April 1968, he was drafted to serve our country in the US Army. He served on active duty for two years, including a one year tour of duty as a Field Artillery Crewman (MOS 13B40) in Vietnam. He was released from active duty on 3 April 1970, and honorably discharged from inactive reserves on 4 April 1974. He attained the rank of Sergeant (E5), and for his service, was awarded the Army Commendation Medal w/"V" Device and 2nd Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device.

After his military service, Carlo became a Life Member of the Tri-County Council Vietnam Era Veterans, and was the former Vice President and Board Member. He was a member of Melvin Roads American Legion Post 1231, Rensselaer, NY, and the VFW Post, Albany, NY. He was a retired member of IBEW Local 236. He was the Senior Electrical Inspector in the City of Albany, NY and then later became the Director for the Albany Buildings and Regulatory Compliance for the City of Albany, NY where he later retired in March 2016. He was one of the founders of the Capital Holiday Lights in the Park, and an avid fisherman and hunter.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

Staging at the church with a flag line for the arrival of family and guests. Funeral Mass is scheduled for 08:00am. Following services, members will provide an escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for interment with military honors.
