About the Mission:

The family of Alexander E. Shapiro has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. Mr. Shapiro, 80, passed on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

Born in Troy, NY, Alexander, a graduate of Tamarac High School attended Hudson Valley Community College prior to enlisting in the US Air Force on 6 October 1964. He was trained as an Aircraft Radio Maintenance Technician (AFSC 30150) at Keesler AFB where he graduated first in his class. He served 4 years on active duty, including a one year tour of duty at Cam Ranh Air Force Base, Vietnam. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant on 1 October 1968, and for his service was awarded; Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars and a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device.

After his honorable military discharge, Al embarked on a successful 35-year career with the Xerox Company in Albany.

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the arrival of family and guests at 12:30 pm. Anticipated KSU of 1:00 pm for escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for a 2:00 pm interment with military honors.
