About the Mission:

Patriot Guard Riders of New York has been requested to honor US Marine Corps veteran Stanley J. Walerski.  Stanley, 92, of New York Mills, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, with his family at his side.

Born in September 1931, Stan was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and continued his education at Utica College where he earned a Bachelor’s degree.  From 1949 to 1952, Stan served proudly in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. His service included time in the Far East participating in action against enemy forces in South and Central Korea. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant, and was the recipient of a Purple Heart.

His career began as a Draftsman for the City of Utica Planning Department. He moved to Russell D. Bailey Consultants where he worked as an Associate City Planner. Before retiring in 1996, Stan was a Senior Tax Map Analyst for Oneida County.  Stan was a communicant of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Stars & Stripes #82 and a lifetime member of G31 Korean Veterans.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

We will stage at the church while a mass is underway. We will form our flag line outside the church and render a dignified transfer at the conclusion of services. We will then escort Stan to his final resting place in Holy Trinity Cemetery, 1500 Champlin Avenue, Utica, a short distance of about two miles. We will again provide a dignified transfer at graveside and remain in a flag line for the duration of graveside services and military honors.
