About the Mission: |
The family of Frank A. Altamura has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his funeral services. Frank, 70, passed away July 19, 2021. Frank graduated from Herkimer High School in 1969. He earned a Political Science degree from Onondaga College in Syracuse, and worked in law enforcement for several years throughout upstate New York. During this time, he also volunteered with a fire and rescue squad. In 1981, Frank changed career paths and began work as a Safety Officer with the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York, later transferring to the Griffiss Air Force Base and eventually retiring from Langley Air Force Base as the Deputy Chief of Ground Safety after many years of service. Frank loved his job and particularly enjoyed working with cadets and traveling around the world. When he retired in 2012, Frank was awarded the Meritorious Service Award to commemorate his storied career in the Air Force. Frank also served as a scout master for several years with his son’s Boy Scout troops. In his free time, Frank enjoyed golfing, reading legal thriller novels, playing cards, and dining and sharing stories with his friends and family. |

Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters. |
Special Information: | We will stage in the Walgreens parking lot with an anticipated KSU of 09:00 to the family residence. We will then ride an approximate 5 minute escort to Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer where we will stand a flag line for a short committal service. |
