About the Mission:
Patriot Guard Riders has been invited to participate in the military honors funeral services of unaccompanied US Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran, Thomas Arthur King. Mr. King, 83, formerly of Syracuse and Waterville, NY, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Utica.
Little is known of Mr. King's life and military service however, we do know that he was born in Gouverneur, NY, on 10 June 1941 and graduated from college with a Law Degree. He was commissioned into the United States Marine Corps as a 2nd Lieutenant during the Vietnam War, on 16 December 1966. He served for 3 years and 8 months as a Legal Officer - Trial/Defense (MOS 4405), and his time included a 13 month tour of duty in Vietnam.
He was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain (O-3) on 12 December 1969, and he completed his inactive reserve obligation on 13 April 1972. For his service, he was awarded a Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation w/Ribbon Bar and 1 Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/4 Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation - Gallantry Cross Color, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation - Civil Actions Color (First Class) and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device.
Following his military service, Mr. King enjoyed a successful career as a lawyer in the Syracuse area during the 1980's.
Mr. King has no known family, and no one is expected to attend his services. No veteran should face his final journey alone. Patriot Guard Riders will proudly stand in as his family during this time, in silent testament to his life and honorable service to his country.
