About the Mission:
The family of Korean War Era & Cold War Veteran Ronald T. Sobczak has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Sobczak of Cheektowaga, NY passed away on 24 April 2023.
Mr. Sobczak served our nation for a total of 3 years &10 months from 1953-1957 in the US Navy, including 3 years on active duty. His Naval Rating was SOG - Sonarman (Sonar). He had over 2 years of sea service, including duty aboard the USS Tidewater (AD-31), a Shenandoah-class Destroyer Tender. Possible additional sea service information is pending. Mr. Sobczak was honorably discharged on 21 September 1957, with the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class (E-4), and he earned the National Defense Service Medal.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
PGR will stand by with a respectful flag line for arrival of the family and funeral home. KSU at 1:35 PM for the escort to the WNY National Cemetery, 1254 Indian Falls Road, Corfu, NY 14036 for the interment ceremony with military honors.
Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Navy flag, and dress for the weather. Thank you for devoting your time to help honor the US Navy service of Ronald T. Sobczak, and to support his loving family.
