About the Mission:
The family of Richard J. Cera has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Cera, of South Buffalo, passed away on 27 May 2023.
Mr. Cera served our nation for 3 years on active duty in the US Army Armor Branch from 1964-1967, with an Army MOS of 11E20-Armor Crewman. He had 13 months of foreign service with US Army Pacific (location TBD), and his final duty assignment was with Able Company, 4th Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 197th Infantry Brigade. Mr. Cera was honorable discharged from active duty on 30 August 1967 with the rank of Specialist Five (E-5), and he earned the National Defense Service Medal, and Sharpshooter Qualification Badges for M-14 Rifle, Pistol, and Tank Weapons.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
PGR will provide a respectful flag line during the 2nd half of calling hours from 5:30-7:00 PM. The funeral service with Military Honors is scheduled for 7:00 PM. There is no escort or cemetery involved in this Mission.
Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Army, and dress for the weather.
