About the Mission:
Patriot Guard Riders of NY has been requested to stand in honor of the life and service of John Wroblewski, Jr. of Buffalo, NY, who passed away on 11 July 2022.
Mr. Wroblewski, Jr. served our nation for 2 years on active duty in the US Army Air Corps from 1943-1945, with an MOS of 612-Airplane Armorer & Gunner. He was assigned to Squadron A, 337th Army Airforce Base Unit, 15th Air Force, and served 9 months in the European Theater of Operations. Mr. Wroblewski participated in numerous campaigns, including: North Apennines, Po Valley, Rhineland, Central Europe, Air Combat, and Balkans.
Quoting from his Separation Qualification Record: "As an Airplane Armorer-Gunner, he flew on B-24 aircraft during 9 months of service....he completed 30 combat missions involving 211 combat flying hours. Operated Emerson Nose Turret in combat and fired twin 50-calibe machine guns. Pre-flighted all aircraft armament prior to take-off, and was required to know the operation and be qualified to repair all possible armament malfunctions while in flight."
Mr. Wroblowski, Jr. was honorably discharged from active duty on 16 November 1945 with the rank of Staff Sergeant, and he earned the following awards: Air Medal w/2 Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Good Conduct Medal; American Campaign Medal; European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal w/1Silver and 2 Bronze Campaign Stars; WWII Victory Medal; AAF Air Crew Member Badge; Carbine Sharpshooter Badge; and Pistol Marksman Badge.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: NYS Guidelines of 2 March 2022, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
PGR will provide a respectful flag line for arrival of the family and guests.
The Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM.
Following the Mass and dignified transfer, PGR will provide an escort to St. Stanislaus Cemetery, 700 Pine Ridge Heritage Blvd., Cheektowaga, NY for entombment with Military Honors.
