The Buffalo Police Department (BPD) and the family of retired BPD Lt. Aaron W. Salter. Jr. have requested the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in honoring this man, who gave his life in an attempt to save the lives of others during the horrific, senseless shooting at the Tops Market in Buffalo on 14 May 2022. Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines: |
Updated 8 March 2022Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: NYS Guidelines of 2 March 2022, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters. |
Special Information: | The calling hours for Lt. Salter, Jr. are from 2:00 - 8:00 pm. PGR will provide a respectful flag line for a 2 hour period from 4:00-6:00 pm while the Salter family is present. Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American flag, and dress for the weather. Thank you for taking time to participate in honoring the life and service of Hero Lt. Aaron W. Salter, Jr., and to support his loving and grieving family. |

Second Stage - Special Information: | The PGR will stand a respectful flag line for arrival of the family, friends, supporters and dignitaries. There will be a 1 hour visitation from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm, with the funeral to follow at 12:00 pm. Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American flag. Following the dignified transfer, PGR will participate in the escort to Forest Lawn Cemetery, Delaware at Delavan, Buffalo, NY for burial. It is expected (rightfully) that this will be a very large and significant Mission, with many moving parts and involvement of many agencies and organizations. Please plan to cooperate fully with the directions given, to ensure a safe and successful Mission. ATTENTION Region-1 Ride Captains: If you plan to participate, your assistance as needed will be appreciated.
