About the Mission:
The family of Vietnam War Era Veteran Bejamin E. Powis has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Powis of Akron, NY passed away on 2 July 2023.
Mr. Powis served our nation for 3 years, 4 months on active duty in the US Navy from 1967-1970, with a Navy Rating of Boiler Technician (BT.) He had over 2-1/2 years of sea service aboard the USS John F. Kennedy (CVA-67), a fixed wing attack carrier. Mr. Powis was honorably discharged from active duty on 9 December 1970 with the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class (E-4.)

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
PGR will provide a respectful flag line for arrival of the family and friends, and during the calling hours from 9:00-10:00 AM. The funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, including PGR Honors. There is no escort or cemetery involved in this Mission.
Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Navy flag, and dress for the weather.
