About the Mission:
The family of Alexander H. "Al" Howe has requested that Patriot Guard Riders participate in honoring Mr. Howe's military service. Mr. Howe passed 02 October 2024 at the age of 97.
Mr. Howe was a US Navy, World War II and Cold War Era veteran, serving on active duty a total of three years and five months from 1944-1952. He achieved the rank of Petty Officer Third Class (PO3) with a rating of Aviation Machinists Mate (AMM) in the Navy and served at a number of stateside bases during his time in the service. Additionally Mr. Howe served on the USS Boxer (CV-21), an Essex Class Aircraft Carrier.
Mr. Howe was honorably discharged 02 July 1946 from the Navy. Mr. Howe re-enlisted in the US Naval Reserve in 1947 and was activated for duty 27 September 1950 and served through 20 December 1951. Mr. Howe completed his Naval career with an Honorable Discharge from the US Naval Reserves 05 May 1952.
Petty Officer Third Class Howe earned: American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Honorable Discharge Pin (Ruptured Duck).

Special Information:
We will stage at 10:00 am at the funeral home, organize the escort at 10:15am, with kickstands up for the escort to the Hilton Exempts Club at 10:30am. PGR members will stand a flag line at the Exempts Club for the arrival of mourners for services which are expected to begin at 11:00am. Services are expected to last until approximately 12:00pm, at which time military honors will be rendered. PGR members will participate in the military honors. Following the services and military honors, PGR members will escort Mr. Howe's remains back to the funeral home.
Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Navy flag, and ensure your vehicle flags are securely attached for the short escort to the Hilton Exempts Club. Thank you for dedicating your time to help honor the World War II service of Alexander Howe and to support his loving family.
