| About the Mission: | The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to participate with a flag line at the finish line of a special event on Memorial Day, a Memorial Run to raise awareness for our Special Operations members who were killed in action since 9/11/2001. The following is from the organizers: "Project 33 Memorial Foundation is hosting their 5th Annual Memorial Run. Our 2022 honoree - Major Andrew D. Byers - was a Buffalo native, residing in Clarence until he was accepted to West Point, graduating in 2008. Major Byers, a member of the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), was Killed in Action in Kunduz Province, Afghanistan on 3 November 2016. We are running in his honor this Memorial Day, from Hamburg Town Beach ending at Hamburg Brewing Company. We humbly request the PGR at the finish line area as Andy’s father will be carrying the American flag as he runs. Our organization is led by active duty Special Operations soldiers, they will be running leading the pack, Andy’s family will be participating as well. We are scheduled to arrive at the Brewery approximately by 11:45 AM." Proceeds from this year's memorial run will benefit the Folds of Honor Program. Click here to view Major Andrew D. Updated 8 March 2022Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: NYS Guidelines of 2 March 2022, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters. |
| Special Information: | PGR will provide a flag line at the Memorial Run finish line. Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, and dress for the weather. This is an appropriate opportunity to spend a couple hours on Memorial Day in honor of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our Nation. Thank you for taking time to ensure a good PGR presence. |
