HOTH Mission

William Gosch

US Marine Corps - WW II Veteran
100th Birthday Celebration

North Tonawanda, NY - 12/09/2023

Mission applies to the following Region(s):

Region 1, Region 2

About the Mission:

The family of WW II Combat veteran William Gosch has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring him on his 100th Birthday.

US Marine Corps Private First Class William Gosch served our nation for 3 years on active duty from 1942-1945, including 2 full years of service in the Pacific Theater. He had MOS's of 745-Rifleman and 677-Military Police, and he served with the infamous and elite "Carlson's Raiders" in four Campaigns: Bougainville (Northern Solomon Islands); Emirau Island (New Guinea); Guam (Mariana Islands); and Okinawa. PFC Gosch survived many instances of close enemy fire, enemy mortars, rough sea landings, Japanese kamikaze, and challenging physical and mental conditions. He was wounded by shrapnel during fighting on Okinawa, but refused the offer of a Purple Heart Medal.

It is expected that part of this celebration will be presentation of the ribbons and medals that PFC Gosch never received.
