About the Mission:

The family of Vietnam Veteran William Orville "Bill" Hatch has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and military service. Mr. Hatch passed away on 2 April 2024.

Bill Hatch served our nation on active duty in the US Marine Corps from 1965-1968, with an MOS of 0141-Administration Man. He served for 13 months in South Vietnam, and was honorably discharged from active duty on 5 January 1968 with the rank of Sergeant (E-5) while stationed at Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro, CA.

Quoting from the H.P. Smith & Son obituary: "During his time in the Marines, Bill was deployed to Vietnam and has always been extremely proud of serving his country. “Once a Marine, Always a Marine” was something that Bill would often say and he lived that motto, embodying all the characteristics of a Marine throughout his entire life. Battling cancer not once, but twice, he displayed courage, grit, strength and tenacity; an inspiration to all who knew and loved him."

For his military service to our nation, Bill Hatch earned the following awards: Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Service Stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; USMC Meritorious Mast; and Letter of Recognition.
