About the Mission:
The family of William J. "Bill" Dunkleman has requested Patriot Guard Riders honor his military service at his funeral. Mr. Dunkleman passed away February 12, 2024 at the age of 81.
Born in Buffalo, NY, Bill served his country with honor and dedication as a United States Marine from November 24, 1959, to January 30, 1967. He attained the rank of Sergeant (Sgt, E-5), with a specialty of 2531, Field Radio Operator. He served with Command Company, 7th Command Battalion, First Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force, Camp Pendleton, California. He served honorably on active duty for seven years and two months between 1959-1967, including three years of foreign and/or sea service. He was honorably discharged 30 January 1967.
For his service, Sergeant Dunkleman earned: Good Conduct Medal w/ 1 gold star (two awards), National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Expert Badge (M-1), Pistol Expert Badge (.45).

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
PGR Members will form a flag line for the arrival of the family, expected between 10:00am and 10:15am. We will hold the flag line until the beginning of services at 11:00am. The services will include military honors and PGR will participate in those honors. At present, honors are expected at the end of services, approximately 11:45am.
Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Marine Corps flag, dress for the weather. Thank you for devoting your time to help honor the US Marine Corps Vietnam War Ear and Cold War service of Bill Dunkleman, and to support his loving family.
