About the Mission:
The family of Colonel William Ernest Carl has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral Services. Colonel Carl passed on 12 November 2024 with family by his side.
Colonel Carl was born in Buffalo, NY on 21 February 1931. After graduation from school, he entered the New York National Guard. On 1 April 1967, he was called up for 24 months of active duty, which included 18 months in Vietnam as Unit Tank Commander. He was honorably discharged from active duty in April of 1969, and continued in the National Guard for 19 years, totaling 21 years of service to our nation. For his service, he was awarded; Bronze Star Medal w/ Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 device, Armed Forces Reserve Medal.
After his military service, Bill entered the workforce as a manager for Firestone and, after retiring, found a new role as a school bus driver in Buffalo.
