About the Mission:

The family of Vietnam War Veteran Thomas J. Walsh has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Walsh passed away on 6 August 2023.

Mr. Walsh served our nation for 1 year, 7 months on active duty in the US Army from 1969-1971, with an Army MOS of 05B20-Radio Operator. He served a 13-month deployment to South Vietnam from January 1970-February 1971, assigned to Headquarters & Headquarters Company, 34th Engineer Group (Construction), 20th Engineer Brigade at Bin Thuy. Mr. Walsh was honorably discharged from active duty on 17 February 1971 with the rank of Specialist Four (E-4), and he earned the following awards:
Army Commendation Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star; Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Honor Medal; and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

PGR will provide a respectful flag line for arrival of the family and friends. The Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 9:30 AM. Following the Mass and dignified transfer, PGR will provide an escort to Holy Cross Cemetery, 2900 South Park Avenue, Lackawanna, NY 14218.
