About the Mission:

The family of US Air Force Staff Sergeant Korey Wade has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his funeral services.  Sergeant Wade died while participating in a training mission on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 in Ontario County, Arizona. The first part of Patriot Guard Riders involvement will be to escort Sergeant Wade and his family from the Buffalo International Airport to the funeral home in Manchester, NY. 

Sergeant Wade, from Shortsville, joined the Air Force in 2008 and later worked at Osan and Gunsan Air Force bases in South Korea. He arrived at the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona in April 2020, the military confirmed.  During his career, he received numerous awards, including the Air and Space Commendation Medal, Air and Space Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Air and Space Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and U.S. Air Force Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon.

There will be law enforcement escort from airport to the thruway entrance in Buffalo, as well as the NYS Thruway portion of the escort.  Please see the details of this escort mission below and participate as you can to honor this soldier and his family in their time of need.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

Region 1 PGR will escort to Batavia Thruway exit where they will either end their portion of the escort or continue on to Manchester. Region 2 PGR will stage at Batavia Thruway entrance and pick up the escort and continue on to Manchester.

There will be a funeral in Manchester at a later date.
