About the Mission:

The family of GWOT combat Veteran Shad Christopher Roy has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Roy of Pavilion, NY passed away on 17 October 2023.

Mr. Roy served our nation for 12-1/2 years on active duty in the US Army from 1996-2010. He held 2 MOS's: 13B3P-Cannon Crew member/Parachutist; and 68W3P-Health Care Specialist (Practical Nurse.) Mr. Roy had 2 years of foreign service, with deployments to Iraq in 2004-2005 and 2009-2010. He was honorably discharged from active duty on 1 November 2010 with the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6), and he earned the following awards: Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards); Army Commendation Medal (4 awards); Army Achievement Medal (6 awards); Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon; Army Superior Unit award ribbon; Army Good Conduct Medal (4 awards); National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal (2 awards); NCO Professional Development Ribbon (2 awards); Army Service Ribbon; Army Overseas Service Ribbon (2 awards); Combat Action Badge; Army Parachutist Badge; and Wheeled Vehicle Driver & Mechanic Badge.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

PGR will stage at 10:00 AM to form a flagline for the arrival of our hero's family and friends for the calling hours before the escort to the WNYNC. KSU by 12:10 PM for the escort to WNY National Cemetery, 1254 Indian Falls Rd, Corfu, NY 14036 for the 1:00 PM Committal with Military Honors.

Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached. Thank you for devoting your time to help honor the extraordinary military service of Shad Christopher Roy, and to support his loving family.
