About the Mission: | Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in honor of the life and service of Robert L. Burdick, Sr. of Belmont, NY, who passed away on 16 December 2021 at the age of 87. Mr. Burdick served our nation for 2 years on active duty in the US Marine Corps from 1954-1956, with an MOS of 1341-Engineer Equipment Mechanic. Following Marine Boot Camp at Parris Island, SC, Mr. Burdick completed Heavy Equipment Mechanic School at Etajima Base, Japan He continued to be stationed in Japan for 1 year, and was honorably discharged from active duty on 25 March 1956 with the rank of Private First Class, and he earned the National Defense Service Medal. Updated 8 March 2022Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: NYS Guidelines of 2 March 2022, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters. |
Special Information: | PGR should be prepared with a respectful flag line at the cemetery entrance for arrival of the funeral director and family members. The graveside service with USMC Military Honors is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM. NOTE: RC Skip Merrick will provide a single escort of the funeral director and Mr. Burdick, Sr. from the funeral home. Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or USMC flag, and dress for the weather.
