About the Mission:

The family of Robert J. O'Neil has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. O'Neil of Livonia/Dansville, NY passed away on 4 September 2023.

Mr. O'Neil served our nation for 16 months on active duty in the US Army Armor Branch from 1968-1970, with an Army MOS of 76Y30-Unit Organization & Supply Specialist. He served 3 months in South Vietnam, and his assignments included 15th Supply Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division. Injured while on active duty, Mr. O'Neil was honorably discharged at Walter Reed Army Medical Center on 19 January 1970 with the rank of Specialist Four (E-4), and received his permanent retirement on 1 March 1972. He earned the following awards: National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; M-14 Rifle Marksman Qualification Badge; and M-16 Rifle Expert Qualification Badge.

Mr. O'Neil was an active member of Harrison-Lee American Legion Post 283 in Livonia, NY.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

PGR will stand with a respectful flag line for arrival of the family, and during the calling hours from 4:00-6:00 PM. Military Honors will be rendered at 6:00 PM. There is no escort or cemetery involved in this Mission.

Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, and dress for the weather. Thank you for devoting your time to help honor the US Army Vietnam War service of Robert J. O'Neil, and to support his loving family.
