About the Mission:
The family of Cold War Veteran Robert "Bob" Edward Rowe has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Rowe, formerly of Avon, NY passed away on 23 June 2023.
Mr. Rowe served our nation for 3 years on active duty in the US Marine Corps from 1958-1961, with a Marine Corps MOS of 0311-Rifleman. Quoting from the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home obituary: "At the tender age of 18, Bob joined the Marine Corps, where he excelled as a member of the esteemed Silent Drill Team within the Ceremonial Guard Company, at 8th and I, D.C. His exceptional service included prestigious assignments at The White House and Camp David, where he carried out his duties with precision and honor under the leadership of President Dwight David Eisenhower.
After his military service, Bob applied his skills and expertise to work for the CIA in the field of photo reconnaissance in D.C., making significant contributions to national security during his tenure.
Mr. Rowe was honorably discharged from active duty on 28 July 1961 with the rank of Corporal (E-4), and he earned the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal and M-1 Rifle Marksman Qualification Badge.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
PGR will provide a respectful flag line for arrival of the family and friends. The Memorial Service is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM. Following the service and dignified transfer. PGR will provide and escort to Avon Cemetery,142 Rochester St, Avon, NY 14414 for interment with military honors.
