About the Mission:

The family of Vietnam War Veteran and longtime fire fighter Robert A. Bobzin has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Bobzin of Holley/Bergen, NY passed away 19 September 2023.

Mr. Bobzin served our nation for 3 years on active duty in the US Marine Corps from 1964-1967, with a Marine Corps MOS of 3531-Motor Vehicle Operator. He served over 12 months in South Vietnam, and his final duty assignment was with Bravo Company, 5th Medical Battalion, 5th Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force, Camp Pendleton, CA. Mr. Bobzin was honorably discharged from active duty on 24 February 1967 with the rank of Corporal (E-4), and he earned the following awards: USMC Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; and Rifle Marksman Qualification Badge.

Quoting from the Batavia Funeral Homes Obituary: "A longtime active member and former chief of the Bergen Fire Department, he served on their board of directors and was a member of Post No. 575 Merrill-Sackett-White American Legion in Bergen."

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

PGR will stand by with a respectful flag line for arrival of Mr. Bobzin, the family and funeral director. KSU at 1:30 PM for the escort to WNY National Cemetery, 1254 Indian Falls Rd, Corfu, NY 14036 for the 2:00 PM interment ceremony with Military Honors.

Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or USMC flag, and dress for the weather. Thank you for taking time to help honor the USMC Vietnam War service and longtime volunteer fire service of Robert A. Bobzin, and to support his loving family.

NOTE: Mr. Bobzin is the brother-in-law of PGRNY member Lee Sage.
