About the Mission:

The family of WW II veteran Paul Woods has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his extraordinary life and service. Mr. Woods of Buffalo, NY passed away on 19 November 2023 at the age of 100.

Mr. Woods served our nation for 4 years on active duty in the US Army Quartermaster Corps from 1941-1945, with an Army MOS of 345-Truck Driver. He had over 3 years of foreign service in the Pacific Theater of Operations, assigned to the 3447th Quartermaster Truck Company. His unit participated in 4 difficult battles/campaigns: East Indies, Papuan, New Guinea, and Leyte. Mr. Woods was honorably discharged from active duty on 20 May 1945 with the rank of Technician 5th Grade, and he earned the following awards: Distinguished Unit Citation Ribbon; American Campaign Medal; Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/3 Bronze Campaign Stars (4 Awards); WW-II Victory Medal; Philippine Liberation Medal w/1 Bronze Campaign Star; and WW-II Honorable Discharge Button.

Mr. Woods proudly participated in the May, 2012 Buffalo Honor Flight. He was a member of the Jessie Clipper American Legion Post #430.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

PGR will stand with a respectful flag line for arrival of the family and guests. The funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 AM, followed by the dignified transfer and escort to Lakeside Cemetery, 4810 Camp Rd, Hamburg, NY 14075 for interment with Military Honors.

Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached. Thank you for devoting your time to help honor the WW-II service of Paul Woods, and to support his very proud and loving family.
